Receiving a diagnosis of cancer can create overwhelming emotional distress, including anxiety, depression, and worry. NBCC has access to a specialized team of psychiatrists, psychologists and nurse practitioners who offer psychiatric consultation, brief therapy, and emotional support to patients with cancer. If any patient has an existing mental health condition, NBCC can coordinate the treatment with the patient’s psychologist or therapist to accommodate the patient with well-rounded care.
