Dr. Fatima Ghandour has brought to NBCC twenty-four years of experience as a histopathologist and is an expert in illness and disease of the breast. She began her academic career with a Bachelor of Science from the American University of Beirut, and later completed her medical degree in Baghdad University College of Medicine in Iraq from 1982-1987 where she graduated with distinction. Furthermore, she completed her Certificate of Training in Pathology from the American University of Beirut in 1989 and her MRC Pathology from the Royal College of Pathologists in England in 1993.
She joined the medical team at Saint George Hospital University Medical Center (SGHUMC) in 1995 and worked as a consultant in histopathology in Ain Wazein Hospital in El Chouf and Jabal Amel Hospital in Tyre. In addition to her academic rank as an Associate Professor of Pathology in the University of Balamand, she has been the Chairperson of the Histopathology Department at SGHUMC since 2005.
Dr. Ghandour plentitude of knowledge on pathology will play a critical role in the future research on breast cancer conducted by NBCC.
