PHYSICAL THERAPY

Physical therapy after surgery and during cancer treatments, such as radiation and chemotherapy, can minimize side effects of treatment and improve the well-being of the patient. Physical therapy can aid in soreness of joints and muscles, help reduce swelling, and instruct patients on necessary exercises to be practiced at home.

Many patients find that they feel better when they stay active. Walking, yoga, swimming and other activities can help them stay strong, increase their energy and even relieve stress. Exercise can also minimize nausea and pain, enabling the acceptance of treatment. It is important to consult with the assigned physician before practicing any strenuous physical activity.
