Dr Myriam El-Helou, holds a PhD in Cancerology, molecular and cellular biology and works as a researcher at the NBCC. Her passion for science and research embrace her to join NBCC team where she shares her gained skills and her educational background in order to provide research and clinical data analysis at the center. Her professional goals match with the purposes of the center: care and support for women with breast cancer, help to reduce the cancer burden and discover latest novels in order to improve services for breast cancer patients and society.
Dr.El-Helou earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology at the Lebanese University then she obtained her Master’s Degree with distinction from the Lebanese University in Human Reproduction and Assisted Reproductive Technologies in 2010. In the late 2017th, she completed her PhD of Sciences in Cancerology, molecular and cellular biology from the University Claude Bernard Lyon1 in France in cooperation with the Lebanese University. She performed her PhD studies at the Cancer Research Center of Lyon (CRCL)-UMR INSERM 1052-CNRS 5286, Leon Berard Center in the team “Signalisation des stéroïdes et cancer du sein”. Her research interests focus on breast cancer. Her dissertation was dedicated to investigate the impact of chronic and low doses exposure of environmental factors on the precancerous mammary cells MCF10AT1. The data she obtained have very important consequences in the understanding of the impact of the environment on breast cancer progression. Moreover, she’s a senior embryologist performing the highest and most delicate assisted reproductive techniques. She had a professional experience from 2011-2014 at Azoury IVF clinic, Mount Lebanon Hospital. However, she developed multiple skills in the fields of molecular/cellular biology, medical/paramedical sciences, women’s health, and environmental factors with cancer biology.
